I. Mobile Social Network Platform

Motivation

Supporting single parents and guardians through life's toughest challenges. Globally, over 10.5 million children lost a parent or caregiver during the pandemic, and in the U.S., more than 140,000 children lost a primary caregiver. Our platform provides community, resources, and hope to ensure no parent—or child—faces these challenges alone.

Goal

My goal for this research is two-fold:

  1. To develop a Social Media Platform (Families Without Borders) for Supporting single parents and guardians through life's toughest challenges. Globally, over 10.5 million children lost a parent or caregiver during the pandemic, and in the U.S., more than 140,000 children lost a primary caregiver. Our platform provides community, resources, and hope to ensure no parent—or child—faces these challenges alone.
  2. To design and analyze a social networking platform for single parents using advanced modeling techniques, including random graphs and Markov processes. Our research shows that when parents form 5 or more supportive connections, stress, anxiety, and depression can be reduced to one-third of their original levels. By combining a rigorous mathematical modeling with real-world data, we aim to build an inclusive and dynamic platform that delivers measurable improvements in well-being for single parents.

Results

Simulation results point out that 5 or more social connections (offered by our social platform) reduces the anxiety, depression and stress to 1/3rd of its original value.
